OME banjo peghead - Just another yellow beach umbrella
OME banjo peghead
I thought some might like to see a closeup of the banjo peghead. Not only does this have abalone and mother of pearl inlays, but the inlays are also engraved. It was a bit overcast, so the myriad of colors reflected from the inlays are not apparent, but imagine the colors seen in an abalone shell.

Holy shit. That is gorgeous.
When I was 17, my Dad wanted to buy me a guitar for my birthday. We went to a guy who made them all, himself. I saw one with abalone inlay that I fell in love with instantly. But it was about $300 more than the one I ended up choosing. Just a basic acoustic guitar. Which is all for the best, anyway. I've never gotten the hang of the damn thing. (My Dad reminds me of this basically every time we talk, too.)

Sorry...that was the bad kind of random reminiscing.

Parents have a way of doing things like that. Maybe it's their way of thinking they still have control by making one feel guilt.

There are quite a few guitar instruction videos on You Tube and many music stores sell DVD instruction too. Like most things to become proficient, one has to spend sufficient time practicing. You might want to try guitar again.

If you like, email me a mailing address and I'll send you a copy of a good DVD that will help: askforsam@aol.com

You know, my dad bought me some guitar tapes. My husband also bought a cd rom learn-guitar-at-home deal. I really think I do benefit from a teacher. I played flute for 10 years, I was in a few choirs. I couldn't have done all that on my own.

I think mostly it's my dad way of expressing shock that I didn't pick it up as easily as we had both expected. I was and am musically inclined. It was just the wrong point in my life and unfortunately I didn't recognize that.

Thank you. It's become one of my prized possessions along with a Uberti Colt .45 and an American Indian ring.
